The Significance of Easter: More Than a Time to Have Fun

What is the significance of Easter? Read on to find out.

It’s Easter So What?

Obviously Easter is a beloved holiday for individuals all over the world. There is something so fun about this time of year. There are Easter Egg Hunts, Peeps (for all of you crazy ones that like those), and my favorite Cadbury Eggs (mmm, delicious!). Many love the Easter bunny. We see him around a lot this time of year. Having an Easter Bunny makes for cute family photos however; it isn’t about him but about something else entirely.

Easter is not about the bunny it's about the lamb

Easter was set aside as the day to remember the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus was born of a virgin Mary and lived a sinless life so that he could pay the price for our sins. Jesus was the Lamb of God (John 1:29). What’s the significance of Easter? It is that Christ who was crucified and buried in a borrowed tomb rose again and now lives at the right hand of the father.

The Consequences of No Resurrection

 1 Corinthians 15:14
14 And if Christ has not been raised, our preaching is useless and
so is your faith.

If Christ is not alive today, all of the preachers in the world are wasting their lives spreading a lie. My faith is useless if Jesus is still in the tomb in Jerusalem. If Christ has not risen from the dead, then we are without hope and we should be pitied (You can read all about the consequences of Jesus not being raised from the dead here) Man, a life without Jesus’ resurrection sounds horrible but there is good news! We have a lot to be thankful for, because Christ the Lord is risen today (sing it now, alleluia).

The Significance of Easter-The Blessed Hope!

Jesus Said: I am the way, the truth, and the life

Jesus is alive and not only that, he holds the keys to death, hell, and the grave. Because of his great sacrifice on the cross, we have victory now and forever more. Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life and no one can come to the father except by him. If you believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, you will be saved (Romans 10:9). Friend, today is such a sweet day of hope because we know that we have salvation from our sins and will one day live forever with our savior and loved ones who have gone on before us. What a blessed hope that is!

Do you mind if I take a moment to pray for you on this Easter Sunday

A Prayer for You

Father, if there is one reading this right now, I pray that you would let the Holy Spirit begin to draw them close to you. May they see that you went to Calvary and died for them. Remind them Lord that when you died, you had them on your mind. God, wrap them in your loving arms and help them grasp just how deep and wide and vast your love for them is. God, for those that are reading this that know you and have accepted your gift of salvation, I pray that as they witness to others about your death, burial, and resurrection that you would give them a boldness and that you would give them the words to speak. Help them as they work to lead others to you. Please bless the person reading this and give them a good day remember your sacrifice. Thank you Lord, for dying on the cross for our sins. Thank you that you have given us victory through your death on the cross. We love you and ask all of this in your name,

Amen.

A Song For You
