The word of God is what will give us the strength to go one. Here are some verses for the discouraged soul that I’d like to share with you. Hopefully they will help you in the trials you are facing.

Verses for the discouraged soul

  • Psalm 42:11-Why, my soul are you downcast? why so disturbed within me? put your hope in God, for yet will I praise him, my Savior and my God.

Jesus is always there and waiting to help us. We can choose joy by making the choice to run to him, allow us to help him, and put our trust in him.

When the cares of my heart are many,
    your consolations cheer my soul.

I said it before and I will say it again, there is no better ting to do than to run to God when we are feeling burdened down and anxious.

Cast your burden on the Lord,
    and he will sustain you;
he will never permit
    the righteous to be moved.

Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

Need rest? he will give you that too.

Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, be constant in prayer

Be consistent in prayer for he will help you.

  • 2 Chronicles 15:7– But as for you, be strong and do not give up, for your work will be rewarded.

Wow, this one went straight to my heart. I have been experiencing a lot of burnout with work here lately. When I see people quit the program, relapse, etc… I have a tendency to feel discouraged. Sometimes I even feel hoplessness. can cause me to feel a sense of discouragement and almost hopelessness but I just have to remember, if by God’s grace I help just one person, then the work is worth it. Maybe for you it is work, maybe it is volunteering, maybe it is caring for your children as a stay at home mom. Whatever it is you are doing, don’t give up. God will bless the work that you do.

Be strong, and let your heart take courage all you who wait for the Lord!

The Lord is close to the brokenhearted
    and saves those who are crushed in spirit.

19 The righteous person may have many troubles,
    but the Lord delivers him from them all;

“Can a woman forget her nursing child,
    that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?
Even these may forget,
    yet I will not forget you.
16 Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
    your walls are continually before me.

For the Lord will not forsake his people;
    he will not abandon his heritage;

We are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not driven to despair;  persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;

For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, 18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal

And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good,[a] for those who are called according to his purpose.

Peace I leave with you; my peace I give to you. Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your hearts be troubled, neither let them be afraid.

I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
