The ideas in this post were inspired by a sermon entitled “After This” by evangelist Beth Stevens. She did a wonderful job of encouraging me and reminding me that even when I feel hopeless, there is hope.
Revelation 4:1 "After this, I looked, and behold a door was opened in heaven: and the first voice I heard was like a trumpet talking with me; and it said, come up higher, and I will show you great things which will come after this" (paraphrased by myself).
If anyone had an opportunity to feel hopeless, it was Paul. Here are a few of the reasons Paul could have felt hopeless.
- Paul was on an island called “Patmos” (Revelation 1:9) a place where he was surround by hopelessness.
- Paul was “in the Spirit on the Lord’s day (Revelation 1:10). This shows us that Paul was wrapped in God’s power.
- Paul heard a great voice that sounded like a trumpet (Revelation 1:10)
- Paul turned toward the voice that sounded like a trumpet and saw that it was Jesus.

Could I take a moment to pray for you right now, please?
Prayer
Dear God,
I pray for the person reading this post right now. If they are in a season that seems full of hopelessness and spiritual death, I pray that you would draw near to them. Lord, wrap them up in your power. Give them a fresh word, give them the courage to obey the word, and give them the strength they need to continue to follow you. Lord when they come on the other side, I pray that they will have a greater understanding of who you are and what your Spirit can provide. I pray that after this season, you will move for them in a mighty way and they will be able to testify to others of what great things you’ve done for them. Thank You, God. I ask all of this in your precious son’s name, Amen.
A Song For Your
I couldn’t help but hear this song in my head as I was writing this post. I pray that it blesses you as it has me.
