Who You Are According to God: Part 5 of 5 in the Identity Series

Who you are according to scripture Miranda Rejoice blog

Here it is, part 5 of 5 in the series “Discovering Who You Are and What You Were Made For”. It seems like just yesterday I posted part 1. I’d like to take a minute to thank you for joining me on this journey. I hope that by taking part in this series, you have grown in wisdom. Also, I hope that you know more about who you are, and what God has called you to do.

I want to talk to you about who you are according to God. We already know that we are redeemed, chosen, the right person for the job, and a new person in Christ. However; I want to share with you more of who you are and what you are. What you will read in this post comes from the Bible which I know is true. You are every one of the things that you will read here. Please read on to discover who you are from the mouth of the one who created you and knows you better than anyone else. I hope and pray this post blesses you as it did me while writing it.

Who You Are (the Foundation)

  • God made you in his image so you are like him (Genesis 1:26).
  • God made you so you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14).
  • You are on God’s mind (Psalm 139:17).
  • Loved. God loves you and he loves you no matter what (John 3:16, John 14:21, Romans 8:38-39).

What You Are After Salvation

  • Baptized with the Holy Spirit (Acts 11:15)
  • Predestined, called, justified, and glorified (Romans 8:30)
  • Freed from the bondage of corruption (Romans 8:21)
  • Saved, and a member of God’s family (Ephesians 2:8, Ephesians 2:19, 2nd Thessalonians 1:9)
  • A part of the body of Christ (1 Corinthians 12:12-31, Romans 12:4-5)
  • A letter to God written by the Holy Spirit on to people’s hearts (2nd Corinthians 3:3)
  • Given a wonderful work (to tell others about Jesus) (2nd Corinthians 4:1)

When Facing Difficulties According to God You Are:

  • Pressed by the troubles but not broken (2nd Corinthians 4:8)
  • Maybe confused by God’s plan but not giving up (ok, that’s definitely me!) (2nd Corinthians 4:6)
  • Hunted down but never abandoned by God (2nd Corinthians 4:9)
  • Knocked down but still going (2nd Corinthians 4:9)
  • Facing the possibility of death daily but kept safe by God (2nd Corinthians 4:10)
  • Comforted (John 14:18)
  • Given Peace (John 14:27)
  • Given opportunities to show God’s Power (2nd Corinthians 4:11)
  • Growing inner strength for God daily (I’m trying to) (2nd Corinthians 4:16)
  • Not looking at the troubles around me but looking toward heaven (2nd Corinthians 4:18)

What You Are According to God:

  • Healed (Isaiah 53:5)
  • Given sleep when you need it (Psalm 127:2)
  • Not ashamed (Romans 10:11)-you definitely shouldn’t be, you are new (see here)
  • made alive (1 Corinthians 15:22)
  • Showered with Grace (Ephesians 1:8)
  • Above all, you are blessed (Psalm 1:1, Psalm 82:1-2, Psalm 112:1)!

That concludes our series “Discovering Who You Are and What You are Made For”. Again, I pray that this series has helped you discover more of who you are and has blessed you as you’ve read through it. Now, as we move on from this series, let us “look to Jesus, the author, finisher of our faith” and “run with patience the race set before us” (see Hebrews 12:1-2).

A Song for You
